Dr. Mourad Oyar, a member of the International Council of Ophthalmology, said that Turkey has become the first choice for many countries in the field of medical tourism, especially in the field of ophthalmology.
Uyar added that his country has many advantages that made it one of the important countries in the medical field, which is characterized by the quality of health care at the global level using advanced technological and medical equipment.
It also has an important geographical location as a bridge between Asia and Europe, as well as its favorable prices compared to European countries.
“There is a need for visa requirements for many countries, as well as easy access to visas for some countries through the e-Visa system,” he said.
He pointed out that most of the arrivals to Turkey for treatment are from Germany, France, Britain and the Netherlands, as well as the countries of the Middle East and Africa.
Turkey’s medical tourism imports last year amounted to 1.5 billion US dollars, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pledged to make Turkey a brand in medical tourism.
